Week Two Comments

Week two saw the flurry of bids that I thought would happen in week one. Two or three bids on 17 ppg Speedy Claxton, who’ll probably only go down from there but could be pretty valuable at least until our midseason point. The Battle of Gerald Wallace ended with all sides bloodied and battered but only one down a whole two dollars and fifty cents. Despite us playing in this league format for a third year, I think the mid-level consistent center has been way undervalued, and at least half the teams in the league are feeling the effects of that. Anyone with three or four centers playing 30-plus minutes could probably get a king’s ransom for one. A guy like Nenad Krstic or Lorenzon Wright might be worth a Zach Randolph or Stephon Marbury. I picked those names at complete random. The Mercy Sundance tried to spend 1.25 picking up Alonzo Mourning, wondering why no one else bid on him until realizing that Clark already picked him up last week.

On to the obligatory Bulls talk: I’m happy with a 43-39 mark this year. The Central is thick, the rotation isn’t established, or rather can’t be, with the team not knowing exactly what they have in Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, and Chris Duhon. I’m not worried about this supposed lack of size – Chandler’s the defensive anchor and Sweetney’s skilled and fat. More importantly is that Deng and Gordon aren’t really ready to take over teams like they will in the future. Examples of perfect players for the Bulls huge free agent money next year? Tracy McGrady, Pau Gasol, Peja Stojakovic, Lamar Odom, Al Harrington, Rasheed Wallace, Paul Pierce. My bet? Pierce, Gasol, or Harrington go to the Bulls.
